August, 2020

Dear Families:

I hope you are staying safe and enjoying your summer, and despite the challenges we face, I hope you are as excited about the upcoming school year as we are.  By now, I’m sure you have heard that students will not be returning to the building when school resumes.  Instead, we will begin the school year on a fully remote schedule.  This schedule will provide every student with a full six-period day with 40 minute classes followed by a break for lunch and another 80 minutes of remote learning and teaching in the afternoon.  The afternoon time is unscheduled and designed to allow teachers to catch up and respond to questions students may have or may have asked after hours.  Teachers may also use this time to schedule small group instruction on certain topics or with certain students who may need assistance in a particular area.  Regardless, students should make every effort to follow the schedule.  Our remote schedule is included below.

Homeroom 8:00 - 8:05 (5 minutes)

1st period 8:05 - 8:45 (40 minutes)

2nd period 8:50 - 9:30 (40 minutes)

3rd period 9:35 - 10:15 (40 minutes)

4th period 10:20 - 11:00 (40 minutes)

5th period 11:05 - 11:45 (40 minutes)

6th period 11:50 - 12:30 (40 minutes)

Lunch break 12:35 - 1:15 (40 mins)

Remote 1:20 - 2:40 (80 minutes)

Like yourselves, we are concerned about your children’s education, and we have developed this remote schedule to give your children as much of an “in school” experience as possible.  The more they follow the schedule, the more they are “in school” and the more they will get out of it.  With so many parents working, it may be hard to monitor your children’s activities when you are not home.  We also understand that many students will be completing school work in the late afternoons and evenings, but we are asking you to help us explain how important it is that they are in school during the day with their teachers, even if it is remote.

School is scheduled to start on Thursday, September 10th, and students will be expected to log-in to their google accounts that morning at 8:00 a.m.  Please stay tuned for more important details as they are released.  In the meantime, please visit us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/LindenwoldMiddleSchool/ and ‘Like’ and ‘Follow’ our page, as we look forward to sharing so many exciting things with you again this year!

Regards,
Mr. Theodore Pugliese, Principal
